Migrating Mappings and Reports from Informer 4

Informer 5 can import packages of Mappings, Fields, Links, and Reports from Informer 4. Import Mappings first to establish the Mappings, Fields, and Links, which gives you a good starting point. Because one of the main enhancements in Informer 5 is the Dataset, it is usually not worth bringing over all of your Informer 4 Reports, so the recommended approach is:

  1. In Informer 4, create a package of Mappings and Links. When creating a Mappings-only package, choose None for Reports. (Informer 4 must be on its current production version before you migrate; check the Informer 4 release notes.)
  2. Download and save the package.
  3. Drag the .ixp file into the Informer 5 interface.
  4. Informer prompts you to create a new Datasource or merge with an existing one:
    • If the Datasource already exists, choose Merge with existing Datasource.
    • If it does not, choose Create Datasource and fill in the connection information.
  5. Click Save. When the import finishes, Informer shows an Import Results screen.
  6. Click Done and open the Datasource to confirm the Mappings and Links are present.
  7. To bring over Reports, select a few, create a package, and import it the same way. Informer 4 Reports appear in Informer 5 as Ad hoc Queries.
