Plain-language definitions of the terms you'll see across Informer and Informer GO. Anywhere in these docs you see a dotted underline, hover it for the definition or click through to this page.

Ad Hoc Query #: A saved, parameterized query in Informer. Together with Datasets, Ad Hoc Queries are the data foundation Magic Reports build on.
App #: An interactive page you open from Informer GO, such as a dashboard, a report view, or a custom-built App. Apps can be favorited, tagged, and shared.
Assistant #: A configured AI persona with its own instructions, knowledge, and tools. Chats can be powered by an Assistant tailored to a specific job, like answering HR questions or analyzing sales data.
Chat #: A conversation with Informer AI. Chats can reference Datasets and Libraries, run tools, search the web, and accept uploaded files.
Dataset #: A saved, queryable collection of data pulled from one or more Datasources. Datasets are the foundation for reports, dashboards, and AI data analysis.
Datasource #: A connection from Informer to a database or other system of record, such as PostgreSQL, SQL Server, or UniVerse.
Informer Copilot #: The AI helper built into the classic Informer interface. It opens in a panel and offers context-aware help for whatever you are working on, like writing a SQL query or a calculated field.
Informer GO #: The Informer companion app for desktop (Mac, Windows, Linux), mobile (iOS, Android), and the browser. It brings your Apps, chats, and AI Assistants together in one place.
Integration #: A connection from Informer to an external service such as Google Drive, Gmail, or Salesforce, used by Apps, chats, and jobs to act on your behalf.
Library #: A managed collection of files (documents, spreadsheets, PDFs) that Informer indexes so Assistants and chats can use them as knowledge.
Magic Report #: A simpler kind of App built on Datasets and Ad Hoc Queries. Magic Reports are available to every Informer tenant; full Apps (with server routes, databases, and messaging) require the Apps license.
MCP #: Model Context Protocol, an open standard for connecting AI to external tools. Informer uses it to bring outside services into a chat as Toolkits.
Model tier #: A quality level for the AI model behind a chat: Everyday for fast, lightweight tasks, Advanced for challenging multi-step work, and Strategic for the most complex jobs. Higher tiers reason more deeply; lower tiers respond faster and use fewer credits.
Multi-factor authentication (MFA) #: A second verification step at sign-in, using a code from an authenticator app, in addition to your password.
Session #: A signed-in connection to one Informer server. Informer GO can hold several sessions at once and switch between servers without signing out.
Single sign-on (SSO) #: Signing in through your organization’s identity provider instead of an Informer password. In Informer GO, SSO is available in the desktop and mobile apps.
Skill #: A reusable capability an Assistant can be given, packaging instructions and tools for a specific task.
Tenant #: Your organization’s isolated space on an Informer server, with its own users, data, and settings.
Toolkit #: A bundle of tools an AI chat or Assistant can call, either built into Informer or connected from an external service via MCP.
